India has achieved a major milestone with BDL delivering its first advanced wire-guided heavyweight torpedo to NSTL. The system uses fiber-optic wire guidance and acoustic homing technology for precise underwater targeting. Developed indigenously, it significantly improves anti-submarine warfare capability. The torpedo allows better control and accuracy during underwater operations and strengthens India’s defence manufacturing capability. With this development, India joins a small group of nations capable of producing such advanced underwater weapons, reinforcing self-reliance in naval defence technology.
