Hanwha Ocean has formed a series of strategic partnerships with Canadian defense companies and universities to support Canada’s next-generation submarine program. The Canadian Patrol Submarine Project aims to replace the Royal Canadian Navy’s current fleet of Victoria-class diesel-electric submarines, which are expected to retire in the 2030s. Through the agreements, Hanwha Ocean will collaborate with Canadian organizations on technologies including sonar, electrical systems, embedded computing, and submarine control systems. The initiative also includes research collaborations with several universities to develop advanced naval technologies such as AI-based ship systems and Arctic-capable submarine designs.
