Japan continues expanding its maritime patrol fleet as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries launched the Miyako-class JCG Suruga and handed over JCG Daito to the Coast Guard. The advanced patrol ships will operate mainly from Okinawa, safeguarding territorial waters and conducting search and rescue missions. Equipped with high-power engines and naval weapons, the platform provides extended range and improved performance compared with earlier patrol vessel classes.
