The Netherlands has launched an innovative defense modernization initiative centered on software-driven interoperability for unmanned systems. Working alongside domestic technology company Intelic, the Dutch Ministry of Defence will develop a centralized command-and-control architecture capable of integrating aerial and ground-based autonomous platforms regardless of manufacturer. Built around Intelic’s NEXUS software, the framework will establish common communication protocols, mission management, and coordinated control across diverse drone fleets. By prioritizing digital integration before future platform acquisitions, the Netherlands seeks to accelerate operational deployment, simplify maintenance, reduce training complexity, and create a scalable autonomous warfare ecosystem for future military operations.
