The Indian Army is preparing a plan to procure 300 additional Dhanush 155 mm towed howitzers to expand its long-range artillery capabilities. If approved, the purchase would follow an earlier order of 114 guns already deployed with operational units. The expanded fleet would allow the army to form around 15 new artillery regiments, as each regiment typically operates 18 guns. Manufactured domestically, the Dhanush is an upgraded version of the Bofors FH-77B artillery system, featuring improved structural components, a modern recoil system, and digital fire-control technology that enhances accuracy and operational efficiency.
