Belgian arms producer FN Herstal has presented its EVOLYS ultralight machine gun, balancing firepower and mobility for infantry and special forces. Chambered in NATO-standard 5.56mm and 7.62mm, the system provides a lightweight solution, with variants weighing 5.5kg and 6.2kg respectively. This represents a major weight reduction compared to legacy designs such as the Minimi. Both models feature high rates of fire, effective ranges up to 1,000 meters, and advanced ergonomic features including ambidextrous controls and adjustable stocks. Optimized for suppressor use, the EVOLYS supports covert and counterterrorism missions while reducing fatigue for dismounted soldiers.
