Within a month, the Indian Army intends to acquire more than $1 billion worth of Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) ammo. Before the current fiscal year ends on March 31, procurement orders will be issued in two categories: area denial ammunition, which will cost 45 billion Indian rupees (about $520 million), and high-explosive pre-fragmented ammunition, which will cost 57 billion Indian rupees (approximately $660 million).
