Palladyne AI and NORDA Dynamics are developing an integrated solution designed to improve the autonomous coordination of multiple unmanned aircraft. The companies plan to combine Palladyne’s SwarmOS swarm-control technology with NORDA Dynamics’ Underdog Autonomy Module. The integration is expected to give drones the ability to work together while autonomously detecting, tracking, assigning, and following targets. The system is particularly focused on operations where conventional navigation and communications are unreliable. It is designed to continue supporting autonomous missions even when GPS signals or data links are disrupted through electronic warfare. The companies believe the combination could provide drone swarms with greater operational resilience and reduce their dependence on vulnerable external communication and positioning systems.
