The US Navy has awarded General Dynamics a $12.4 billion contract to fund the construction of two more Virginia-class attack submarines. Covering SSN-812 (USS Baltimore) and SSN-813 (USS Atlanta), both in the Block V configuration, the contract was initially scheduled to be awarded in 2024.The money will be used to increase worker numbers and productivity at the company’s shipyards.
