The development of the first high-performance SIRTAP drones for the Spanish Armed Forces has advanced significantly, according to Airbus.The final assembly phase of two SIRTAP prototypes has begun at Airbus’ Getafe factory, which is located close to Madrid. Next year, they will go through a rigorous ground and flight testing program.Nine SIRTAP systems, each including three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a ground control station, were purchased by the Spanish Ministry of Defense from Airbus in 2023 for a total of 495 million euros ($539 million).
