The United States has moved forward with a proposed $90.5-million foreign military sale to supply Lebanon with M1085A2 and M1078A2 Medium Tactical Vehicles, including training and sustainment services. The acquisition package also contains spare parts, technical documentation, and comprehensive logistics assistance. Oshkosh Defense will execute the main contract work.

The vehicles are part of the US Army’s MTV family, engineered for high mobility, rugged terrain, and enhanced load-carrying capability. Their modular design supports mission adaptability from resupply operations to troop transport and emergency response tasks, making the trucks a valuable addition to the Lebanese Armed Forces fleet.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency stated that the equipment will boost the LAF’s ability to respond quickly to internal and border-related security threats while supporting cooperative activities with US military forces. The sale is also assessed as having no negative effect on the region’s defense posture, nor on American military readiness.

As part of ongoing security assistance, the US has provided Lebanon more than $3 billion in defense support since 2006, including $1.9 billion through the FMS framework. The IMET training program has additionally delivered almost $23 million in assistance since 2014, with more than 6,000 Lebanese personnel receiving US-based instruction over the past five decades.
