The U.S. Marine Corps has contracted Raytheon under a $51.9 million agreement to supply Stinger missile launchers along with a suite of supporting services. These launchers will serve key roles in Marine Corps air defense operations by enhancing engagement capabilities against hostile low-flying aircraft and drones.

The contract isn’t limited to hardware; it also includes training equipment, engineering services for system integration, and long-term maintenance planning through parts obsolescence management. These services aim to ensure seamless deployment and sustainment of the launchers across multiple defense platforms.

This procurement will directly support two critical U.S. defense programs: GBAD (Ground Based Air Defense) and MADIS (Marine Air Defense Integrated System)—both of which rely on the Stinger missile for short-range aerial threat mitigation. The bulk of the work will be carried out in Tucson, Arizona, with supplementary operations in Diné, New Mexico. Final project completion is targeted for September 2026, reinforcing the Marine Corps’ rapid air defense modernization efforts.
