The US has authorized a foreign military sale valued at $325 million to assist Kuwait in sustaining its fleet of M1A2 Abrams tanks, including the recently introduced M1A2K models, which feature enhanced sensors and firepower. This marks a continued commitment to bilateral defense cooperation.

The deal will support the delivery of mission-critical subsystems, including transmission parts, suspension systems, weapon interface modules, and command network integration kits. Additional support will come in the form of tactical software patches, real-time telemetry analysis, and training simulators for crew preparation.

All contract work will be undertaken by General Dynamics Land Systems, the original equipment manufacturer. No industrial offset is associated with the deal. The US believes the support package will significantly enhance Kuwait’s ability to manage its frontline armored units across a range of combat and peacekeeping scenarios.
