For the US Army’s Directed Requirement for Lethal Unmanned Systems (LUS), AeroVironment has been contracted to supply Switchblade loitering weapons. The company was given a five-year contract in August with a maximum of $990 million, of which the $55.3-million deal is the second order.The goal of the LUS requirement is to improve infantry soldiers’ capacity to destroy entrenched targets, including tanks and armored vehicles.
