The U.S. Navy has officially received its latest Virginia-class submarine, the future USS Iowa (SSN 797), on December 22, 2024. This vessel represents the 12th warship delivered to the Navy in 2024 and the 24th Virginia-class submarine completed overall. Built through a partnership between General Dynamics Electric Boat and HII-Newport News Shipbuilding, the USS Iowa is the 13th of its class delivered by Electric Boat and is expected to enhance undersea warfare capacity.
