India is advancing its indigenous airborne surveillance capability through the Netra MkII Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C), designed to deliver enhanced situational awareness, command-and-control, and long-range target detection. Built on the Airbus A321 platform, the aircraft offers greater endurance, payload capacity, and onboard processing power than earlier systems. It will integrate advanced indigenous AESA radar, electronic intelligence equipment, secure communications, and battle management software to coordinate air operations across vast regions. As a key node within India’s integrated air defense network, Netra MkII will significantly improve threat detection, aerial command, and network-centric warfare capabilities while reducing dependence on imported surveillance platforms.
