Elbit Systems has been awarded a $228 million US Army contract to deliver its Iron Fist active protection system for the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, marking a major step in enhancing armored vehicle survivability against modern battlefield threats.

The contract is part of an eight-year Bradley modernization effort overseen by General Dynamics, with the program expected to include over 1,200 vehicles as upgrades progress. Elbit will support the Iron Fist installation and integration effort for a period of three years, contributing to the US Army’s push to counter advanced anti-armor weapons.

This latest award follows an initial agreement announced in May 2024, which identified the M2A4E1 Bradley as the first variant to receive the system. It represents the third procurement order issued under the comprehensive Bradley upgrade program, reflecting sustained investment in layered vehicle protection.

Elbit’s Iron Fist system provides hard-kill active protection, detecting incoming threats and launching small interceptors to destroy them at a safe distance from the vehicle. Designed as a compact, low-volume solution, the system delivers full 360-degree coverage and is effective against UAS threats, loitering munitions, rockets, anti-tank missiles, and kinetic projectiles. In parallel with US Army deployments, Iron Fist is also being installed on European NATO CV90 IFVs, highlighting its expanding operational footprint across allied armored fleets.
