Croatia has signed a multinational framework contract with Czech defense manufacturer Tatra to procure T-815 military trucks, marking a major step in modernizing the country’s military transport fleet. Under the agreement, the Croatian Armed Forces can order up to 420 trucks in 6×6 and 8×8 layouts, enhancing mobility across a wide range of operational scenarios.
The agreement builds on a broader multinational effort that already includes Slovakia, with Tatra citing the initiative as a sign of increasing alliance demand for standardized, battle-proven vehicle platforms. The company stated that the framework promotes cross-border defense cooperation while streamlining procurement processes and boosting Czech defense exports.
In addition to the Croatian order, Tatra confirmed a wider framework covering 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 T-815 variants, spanning 24 configurations to meet diverse mission requirements. The parallel Slovak agreement establishes a flexible, long-term acquisition pathway tied directly to operational needs. Collectively, the framework allows participating nations to place orders worth up to €1.03 billion ($1.1 billion) before tax.
The Tatra Force platform traces its roots to the company’s commercial heavy-duty truck system introduced in the 1980s, with the modern tactical version entering production in 2007. Measuring 9 meters in length and powered by a 400-horsepower V8 air-cooled turbocharged engine, the vehicle offers a top speed of 115 km/h and a 750-kilometer range. Its modular chassis supports a wide array of military roles, making it a versatile backbone for modern armed forces.
