To improve its mine countermeasures capabilities, Sweden has agreed to purchase “Gavia” autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) from Teledyne Marine. The agreement, which is valued at 190 million Swedish kroner ($17 million), is set to expire in 2028, though an extension may be possible. The Swedish Navy will use the AUV to help with object identification operations and to map and create high-resolution sonar photographs of the seafloor.
