The “Sichuan,” the first amphibious assault ship of the Type 076 class, was launched by the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China.The Sichuan is regarded as Beijing’s largest naval warship, with a full-length flight deck, a double island superstructure, and a full-load tonnage of almost 40,000 tons.Its electromagnetic catapult and arrestor technology allow it to launch fighter planes in addition to fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. After its unveiling, the Sichuan will go through a battery of tests and sea trials.
