Cubic Defence UK has been awarded a new two-year contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply its Instrumented Live Training Area Weapons Effects System (ILT-A).
This advanced training solution is designed to enhance operational readiness by providing soldiers with an immersive, data-driven training environment that simulates real battlefield conditions.
The ILT-A system builds upon Cubic’s previous Area Weapons Effects Simulation program, marking a continuation of the long-standing collaboration between Cubic and the UK MoD.
The contract includes provisions for both individual and collective training across diverse terrains and operational domains.
ILT-A incorporates a mix of laser-based and area-effect technologies, integrates with live-fire ranges and drone systems, and creates a digitized training space capable of replicating complex multi-domain threats.
It supports after-action reviews with precise training data, and is fully compatible with Cubic’s SCOPIC2 virtual-in-live system — a platform that enhances training realism by introducing virtual air and artillery strikes, surveillance, and target-tracking features.
This partnership comes at a time when the UK is stepping up its defense initiatives.
Recent developments include a modernization push at the Faslane base in Scotland aimed at strengthening nuclear deterrence, and a joint proposal by GM Defense and NP Aerospace to supply Infantry Squad Vehicles under the British Army’s Light Mobility Vehicle program.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to increase defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 — the nation’s most significant military investment since the Cold War.
