Draganfly has announced a strategically significant milestone after receiving a contract to deliver its Commander 3XL drones to a military customer in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement, processed through a well-established defense contractor, highlights the growing trust in Canadian UAS technology for regional military modernization. The identity of the customer and specific deal details remain confidential due to contractual and regulatory restrictions.
The order provides a comprehensive capability package, including AES-256 secure communications, a durable ground control station, and multiple modular payload options designed to support reconnaissance, surveillance, and logistics operations. The contract also includes provisions for future expansion, giving the customer an opportunity to scale up deployments after assessing the drone’s performance across operational units.
Draganfly’s Commander 3XL is a high-performance heavy-lift drone built for demanding mission profiles. It supports payloads up to 10 kg (22 lbs) and can be equipped with thermal cameras, optical sensors, mapping systems, and other mission-specific tools. Its foldable design ensures quick setup and transportation, making it suitable for rapid-response or dispersed operations.
With rotors capable of flying in light rain and snow, the aircraft is designed for all-weather use. It reaches speeds of 38 knots, achieves maximum altitudes of approximately 2,438 meters, and offers up to 50 minutes of endurance. Depending on antenna configuration, it can operate beyond 10 kilometers, making it a versatile solution for military units seeking reliable long-range aerial capabilities. The contract further solidifies Draganfly’s expanding role in Asia-Pacific defense drone procurement.
