Milrem Robotics of Estonia has completed the integration of Ukraine’s BURIA remote weapon station with its THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle, strengthening the platform’s combat role. Armed with a 40mm grenade launcher, the BURIA module delivers accurate fire up to 1,100 meters away. The joint system underwent live-fire testing in Ukraine, where it demonstrated excellent tracking, precision, and stability, validating its battlefield readiness under real-world conditions.
The BURIA station, produced by Ukrainian firm Frontline, weighs 47 kilograms and incorporates automated fire-control and guidance technology for quick and precise engagements. During the evaluation, it successfully struck targets from distances exceeding one kilometer. Having been introduced into Ukrainian service in early 2025, the turret is now being mass-produced for wider deployment.
The THeMIS ground robot has already established itself as a versatile tool on the battlefield, supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces with tasks such as medical evacuation, route clearance, and logistics under combat conditions. With a top speed of 50 kilometers per hour and endurance of eight hours, it can also carry weapons like machine guns and anti-tank missiles to counter lightly armored threats. Additional trials are scheduled in the near term to explore new tactical scenarios, with data expected to refine system design and guide its future battlefield role.
