The U.S. Navy has taken delivery of the first batch of unmanned surface vessels designed by Bollinger Shipyards for advanced mine countermeasure missions. These initial three drone boats—part of a broader procurement plan—reflect a strategic push to modernize mine detection and clearance techniques across U.S. maritime forces.
Equipped with state-of-the-art navigation, sonar, and mine identification technology, each MCM USV adds to the Navy’s ability to safeguard shipping lanes and naval task forces from underwater threats. Their autonomous capabilities mean less reliance on manned ships and divers, allowing continuous operations in hazardous waters.
With the potential to rapidly grow the unmanned fleet, this delivery highlights the Navy’s commitment to integrating robotics, automation, and innovative shipbuilding into its core mine countermeasures mission.
