Australia is upgrading communications across its Bushmaster fleet through a new C4I contract awarded to L3Harris Technologies. The work falls under Project Land 4111 Phase 2 and involves designing, integrating, installing and testing systems for over 80 command and troop carrier vehicles. The equipment will provide encrypted communications and interoperability for Australian Defence Force personnel. The potential configuration includes the AN/PRC-171 compact team radio, MC-3000I mobile command intercom and Falcon III RF-7800H-MP wideband HF/VHF manpack radio. Government-supplied radios controlled under US export regulations are also reportedly part of the arrangement.L3Harris will undertake the work at its regional support centre in Pinkenba, Queensland. The associated activities are planned to continue for three years, while the Australian-led engineering work is expected to create additional opportunities for the local workforce and apprenticeship programs. This latest award extends earlier efforts to integrate equipment into Australian Army Bushmasters under Project Land 4111. The broader initiative is designed to improve fleet standardization, protection and combat effectiveness. Alongside mine-resistant Bushmaster vehicles, it encompasses Hawkei upgrades, more than 200 additional Bushmasters, maintenance for 1,000 existing vehicles and 1,100 new Hawkei light utility vehicles.
