Avenger S75E Combines Daylight and Infrared Imaging in Lightweight Airborne Package Indian defence technology company Tonbo Imaging has developed the Avenger S75E as a lightweight airborne surveillance and targeting payload capable of operating across multiple imaging bands. The gimbal combines visible-light, SWIR and MWIR sensors using a common-aperture optical configuration. This arrangement allows the different sensors to maintain a coordinated viewing direction, which is useful when tracking targets across changing lighting and weather conditions. The system uses long-range optics but remains below 55 kg in weight and fits within an 18-inch-class gimbal. Tonbo has designed the payload for potential use on MALE and HALE unmanned aircraft, along with fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms operated by humans or remotely. Four-axis stabilization provides accurate line-of-sight control, with fibre-optic gyroscopes contributing to image stability during aircraft movement. The payload also contains a laser rangefinder and designator, giving it the ability to determine target distance and support laser-based targeting functions. Real-time video processing is handled by an onboard GPU. Artificial intelligence can assist with recognizing objects and automatically maintaining video tracks, reducing the amount of manual input required from the operator. The S75E belongs to the Avenger-S series of electro-optical systems intended for surveillance and targeting missions over borders, coastlines and high-altitude areas. Tonbo describes the system as a domestically developed high-complexity payload incorporating its own intellectual property in stabilized gimbals, optics, multi-sensor integration, laser technology and AI-based image processing.
