Textron Systems has been given a $394.2-million contract by the US Navy to construct nine more Landing Craft Air Cushion 100-class (LCAC 100) ships. In order to produce up to five LCAC 100s for the service, the procurement expands upon a primary order placed in August 2023 and a follow-up order placed in July 2024 for materials and non-recurring activities.The nine-unit hovercraft fleet will be built in New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as other places around the nation. Construction is expected to be finished by September 2030, according to Textron.
