The U.S. Army has awarded Boeing a Lot 3 contract valued at $135 million (€127.7 million) for three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook heavy-lift helicopters, as announced on December 4, 2024. This follows the Army’s decision in February 2024 to advance to full-rate production for the CH-47F Block II program.Currently, Boeing is contracted to deliver nine of the planned 465 helicopters for the Army’s fleet. Funding for three more helicopters has already been secured from Congress as part of the next production lot. Additionally, Boeing received a contract last year to procure long-lead parts. The first production CH-47F Block II was delivered in June 2024, with the second following in September. These developments mark significant progress in modernizing the Army’s heavy-lift capabilities.
