Airbus Helicopters has delivered two NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopters (MSPT variant) to the Spanish Navy, launching the second phase of the country’s NH90 procurement strategy. The handover represents the first installment of seven helicopters in this phase, with the full program covering 23 aircraft.
The MSPT version is optimized for marine operations, incorporating automatic rotor folding, rugged landing gear, and maritime navigation systems. These enhancements allow it to operate seamlessly aboard naval vessels and in amphibious roles. With room for 20 armed troops or a small vehicle, and the ability to fly with a single pilot in difficult visibility, the platform expands Spain’s operational reach. The delivery ensures NH90 integration across Spain’s Army, Air and Space Force, and Navy. It also fulfills a milestone in the National Helicopter Plan, agreed upon with Airbus earlier this year.
