The U.S. Army has awarded Sikorsky a $433.21 million modification to its ongoing Black Hawk multiyear procurement contract, reinforcing long-term production of the service’s frontline rotary-wing aircraft. Issued as Modification P00087, the award funds Program Year Five and includes the manufacture and delivery of 24 H-60 helicopters, comprising nine UH-60M utility variants and 15 HH-60M medical evacuation aircraft, along with program management support.
This modification is part of a broader five-year multiyear contract signed in 2022 at Redstone Arsenal, under which the Army committed to procuring 120 Black Hawk helicopters with an expected value of about $2.3 billion. The agreement also provides options for up to 135 additional aircraft, potentially extending deliveries to other U.S. government customers and international partners through foreign military sales, with the overall contract ceiling reaching approximately $4.4 billion.
As the tenth multiyear contract awarded for the H-60 platform, the MY10 framework reflects the Army’s strategy to leverage predictable production schedules and reduced unit costs compared to single-year buys. The approach supports fleet readiness while maintaining a stable manufacturing base critical to U.S. defense aviation.
Aircraft deliveries under the contract began earlier this year and will continue through 2027, with annual quantities determined by budget approvals and force planning decisions. The UH-60M Black Hawk plays a central role in Army aviation, enabling air assault operations, logistical resupply, command support, and cargo transport, and is designed to operate from austere and unprepared landing zones across modern battlefields.
