Babcock International and Aselsan have partnered to explore new approaches to meeting the RAF’s future electronic warfare training needs.

Their agreement centres on a possible Surface Electronic Warfare Threat training capability within the RAF’s Next Generation Operational Training programme, designed to prepare aircrew for operations in highly contested environments.

The programme aims to modernise training by simulating advanced air defence and EW threats, allowing crews to face realistic scenarios without depending exclusively on live training events.

As part of the study, the companies will evaluate whether a jointly developed system could model modern Integrated Air Defence Systems, including radar and surface-to-air missile threats, through flexible and reconfigurable simulations.

Babcock’s background in UK military training and support will combine with Aselsan’s electronic warfare expertise. No schedule, funding framework, or technical configuration has been confirmed, and any future solution would require approval by the UK Ministry of Defence.
