Portugal’s fleet of P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft will undergo upgrades under a new 39-million Canadian dollar agreement with Canada. The modernization project will be led by General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada through the Canadian Commercial Corporation. The initiative follows a previous modernization program launched in 2022 and is intended to enhance aircraft performance while supporting Portugal’s commitments to NATO operations. The upgraded aircraft will continue to perform missions such as maritime surveillance, anti-submarine warfare, and long-range reconnaissance over the Atlantic region.
