Leonardo has been awarded a contract to supply the Italian Coast Guard with a Multirole Maritime Patrol aircraft built on the ATR 42-600 commercial system. In an attempt to update its airborne fleet, which currently uses three comparable platforms based on the company’s ATR 42-200 and ATR 42-500 regional aircraft fuselage, the service placed the order.More sophisticated sensors for communications, search, and surveillance are integrated into the aircraft, providing real-time information to the full chain of command.
