French aerospace major Dassault Aviation has spearheaded a $200 million Series B funding round in Harmattan AI, marking a deepened strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence and autonomy in combat aviation. The move reflects growing industry emphasis on integrating trusted AI into frontline military platforms.
The partnership will focus on controlled, explainable, and monitored AI technologies designed for use across manned fighter aircraft and unmanned aerial systems. Harmattan AI’s solutions are set to support Dassault’s future combat aviation roadmap, including the Rafale F5 configuration and next-generation collaborative combat and drone-swarming concepts, where autonomous systems operate alongside human pilots.
Harmattan AI develops advanced AI applications for ISR missions, drone interception, and electronic warfare, with proven operational relevance. The company has already been awarded several defense programs by the French and British governments, validating its technology for use in sensitive military environments.
Funding from the Series B round will enable Harmattan AI to scale production, enter new mission domains, and deploy its systems across additional operational theaters. As part of the agreement, Dassault Aviation will provide systems engineering expertise, integration know-how for contested battlespaces, and access to international export markets, aligning with European defense priorities around autonomy, security, and software sovereignty.
