Saab and the French defence procurement authority, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), have signed a joint declaration of intent today to facilitate the potential sale of Saab’s GlobalEye Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to France, including ground equipment, training, and support.
Signed during the Paris Air Show, the declaration details DGA’s intention to acquire two GlobalEye aircraft, with an option to purchase two additional units.
The procurement process will now move forward with a final notification, and the contract is expected to be completed within the coming months. Neither a contract has been signed nor an order placed by France at this stage.
GlobalEye is a sophisticated multi-domain AEW&C platform featuring a range of active and passive sensors designed to detect and identify targets over air, maritime, and terrestrial environments at long range. It delivers real-time data to air forces, armies, and navies, significantly boosting situational awareness and enabling early threat detection.
