As reported by the U.S. Department of Defense at the end of June 2025, the United States is bolstering its long-term dominance in aerial warfare with a $3.5 billion budget commitment for the development and deployment of the F-47 fighter jet under the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) initiative.

Of this amount, $2.6 billion is earmarked as discretionary funding, while an additional $900 million awaits approval through a reconciliation bill. Developed by Boeing, the F-47 represents the next leap in U.S. air power as a sixth-generation stealth fighter designed to replace the F-22 Raptor and anchor a broader network of manned and unmanned systems.

With features including low-observable airframe geometry, adaptive propulsion systems, and cutting-edge digital avionics, the F-47 is tailored for survivability and adaptability in modern conflict zones. One of its standout capabilities is its seamless integration with autonomous Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA)—unmanned wingmen that will operate alongside the F-47 to perform a range of tasks such as deploying surveillance sensors, conducting electronic warfare, and delivering precision-strike payloads, ensuring air dominance in complex, high-threat environments.
