RTX-owned Pratt & Whitney has signed a contract worth up to $2.8 billion to provide engines for the F-35 Lightning II. The agreement covers the construction of 141 F135 engines, ensuring delivery to US military branches and allied customers worldwide.
The order will benefit the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and partner nations participating in the multinational Joint Strike Fighter program. It will also support foreign military sales, expanding the fighter’s global sustainment network.
Work will primarily take place in Connecticut, Indiana, and Washington, with additional contributions from sites in Maine, California, Michigan, Oregon, Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey, and other states. Some overseas facilities will also be involved in the production process.
The initiative is scheduled for completion by February 2028, with program management coordinated by the Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland, ensuring timely delivery and operational readiness.
