Embraer has rolled out the Republic of Korea Air Force’s inaugural C-390 Millennium aircraft, following the completion of final assembly and signaling progress in South Korea’s airlift modernization efforts.
The aircraft forms part of Seoul’s Large Transport Aircraft program, launched in 2023 to replace aging transport assets. With this acquisition, South Korea became the first Asian nation to select the C-390 Millennium.
Alongside aircraft deliveries, Embraer will provide a full support and services package, including cooperation with South Korean maintenance and sustainment firms to ensure high operational availability throughout the fleet’s lifecycle.
The C-390 Millennium is designed for multi-role airlift operations and can carry up to 26,000 kilograms of cargo or around 80 fully equipped troops. Mission flexibility allows for the transport of pallets, paratroopers, or medical evacuation loads, including up to 70 stretchers.
Powered by IAE V2500-E5 engines, the aircraft supports extended-range missions with a 23,000-kilogram fuel capacity. It has a top speed exceeding 900 km/h, a 6,000-kilometer operational range, and a service ceiling of 11,000 meters, within a 35-meter airframe.
