Two A-29 Super Tucano aircraft have been handed over to the Uruguayan Air Force by Embraer, initiating deliveries under a 2024 agreement for six platforms.
The comprehensive package also provides mission equipment, a simulator, and integrated sustainment services to modernize Uruguay’s air capabilities and strengthen border defense.
According to Embraer’s leadership, the event reinforces a decades-long partnership that began when Uruguay became the firm’s first export client.
The A-29, operated by 22 nations and proven across 600,000 flight hours, excels in training, patrol, close air support, and ISR missions, particularly in austere environments.
Recent improvements have further enhanced the platform with counter-unmanned aircraft systems, precision-guided rockets, EO/IR targeting sensors, .50-caliber armament, and digital logistics support powered by ILIAS Solutions.
