A new Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft was recently unveiled in China with the goal of improving the nation’s capacity to identify threats. The aircraft, known as the KJ-3000, has four powerful engines and is built on Beijing’s in-house Y-20 strategic transport platform.For thorough coverage of its surrounds, it also seems to have two rotating active electronically scanned array radars.Chinese news sources claim that the KJ-3000 will enhance the PLA’s surveillance capabilities, especially in the western Pacific and the disputed South China Sea.
