The US Army is seeking to modernize its UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter fleet through an ambitious midlife upgrade initiative aimed at extending service life beyond 2050. The program envisions industrial partners conducting deep structural refurbishments, corrosion control, and fatigue remediation, ensuring the helicopters remain operationally viable. Alongside physical upgrades, Sikorsky is advancing digital backbone integration, autonomy-ready controls, and launch-effects technologies, enabling uncrewed operations, extended endurance missions, and future AI-assisted flight. These enhancements will preserve the Black Hawk’s central role in tactical mobility, logistics, and medical evacuation missions.
