Azerbaijan has significantly increased its purchase of JF-17 multirole fighters from Pakistan, growing the total from 16 to 40 aircraft.
The revised procurement stems from a 2024 agreement worth $1.6 billion to update Baku’s air fleet amid regional instability.
Now totaling $4.6 billion, the expanded deal makes Azerbaijan the biggest foreign operator of the Pakistani-built jets.
The aircraft in the expanded order are the advanced Block III versions, offering improved radar and electronic warfare systems.
The first batch was shipped in September 2024 and achieved full operational capability within a month.
