Babcock International and Turkey’s Aselsan are partnering to explore solutions that could meet the Royal Air Force’s future electronic warfare training requirements.
The agreement targets a potential Surface Electronic Warfare Threat training system under the RAF’s Next Generation Operational Training program. The initiative is designed to modernize training for contested air environments by allowing aircrew to encounter advanced air defense and electronic warfare threats in a simulated setting rather than relying solely on live exercises.
This effort reflects the UK’s drive to adapt military training as adversaries field more sophisticated integrated air defense and electronic warfare systems.
The companies will evaluate whether a jointly developed capability could simulate modern Integrated Air Defence Systems, including radar and surface-to-air missile threats. Such a system would support realistic, scalable, and reconfigurable training scenarios for pilots and mission crews.
Babcock will bring its extensive experience in military training and operational support, while Aselsan will contribute advanced electronic warfare expertise. No details have been provided on funding, timelines, or system specifications, and any future development would be subject to Ministry of Defence requirements and approvals.
