Archer Aviation Inc. has entered into a strategic agreement with Korean Air to launch and commercialize its Midnight eVTOL aircraft in South Korea, with the first phase focusing on governmental use cases. Under the agreement, Korean Air may acquire up to 100 Midnight aircraft, paving the way for the expansion of urban air mobility operations throughout the Republic of Korea.
This partnership symbolizes a major advancement in South Korea’s commitment to next-generation aviation technologies. By leveraging Archer’s breakthrough electric propulsion systems and Korean Air’s operational excellence, the collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of safe, efficient, and sustainable air taxi services across both public and private sectors. It also positions South Korea among the early adopters in the global eVTOL ecosystem.
Archer’s Midnight aircraft has recently reached several flight milestones as part of its developmental program. During the California International Airshow, more than 50,000 spectators witnessed a live demonstration of the aircraft’s performance. In test conditions, Midnight completed its longest and highest altitude piloted flights, spanning nearly 55 miles in 31 minutes and achieving a 10,000-foot altitude—a key indicator of its commercial readiness.
The Midnight is designed to transport four passengers plus a pilot on short, repetitive routes with rapid turnaround times. Its goal is to replace long urban commutes with quiet, zero-emission flights lasting just 10–20 minutes, delivering a sustainable alternative to congested ground transportation. The partnership between Archer and Korean Air not only accelerates Korea’s eVTOL adoption but also builds momentum toward a global transition to clean, urban air mobility.
