Under a recently fulfilled contract, Airbus has delivered two H145M helicopters to Cyprus in the initial stage of a defense aviation upgrade project tailored for the Cypriot National Guard. These five-blade, multirole helicopters feature reduced acoustic signatures and improved agility under hot-and-high operational conditions, ideal for missions in Cypriot airspace.
One key enhancement on all airframes is the HForce weapon management suite, allowing mission-configurable payloads such as machine guns, rockets, and precision-guided munitions. This enables each helicopter to carry out light strike operations, extending their use well beyond logistical roles.
With the remaining four aircraft expected before year’s end, the full six-airframe fleet will significantly modernize Cyprus’s airborne response capabilities. The H145M’s high reliability and compact footprint make it well-suited for forward-based operations, border patrols, and quick-reaction interventions.
