Norway has strengthened NATO’s PURL initiative with a new $304-million contribution supporting Patriot interceptor deliveries to Ukraine. The effort is designed to accelerate allied weapons transfers and improve battlefield readiness by bypassing procurement delays. At the same time, Ukraine is expanding its own indigenous air defense ambitions, with local companies developing new interceptor systems and multinational concepts such as Project Freya aimed at countering drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats.
