India Develops Lightweight ELINT Equipment to Detect Enemy Radars and Drones — DRDO is advancing a compact electronic intelligence capability intended to improve the Indian Armed Forces’ awareness of hostile electronic activity. The project, being handled by DLRL in Hyderabad, aims to provide troops with portable equipment for detecting and analysing radar emissions and drone-related signals without depending on larger surveillance platforms. The system will process electronic signatures, distinguish between different emitters and identify changes in transmission behaviour. Advanced signal processing and machine-learning techniques could help analyse multiple signals received simultaneously. Its expected capabilities include locating transmitters and providing information useful for electronic countermeasures. The system will undergo development, integration and qualification, including environmental and electromagnetic compatibility testing.
