US Marines Expand Cyber and IT Modernization Through New Agile Defense AwardsThe US Marine Corps has awarded Agile Defense contracts totaling $93.3 million as part of a broader effort to improve network services, cybersecurity, cloud technology, and digital planning capabilities.One portion of the deal, valued at $88 million, will be carried out with CommIT Enterprises. The work will cover cyberspace services for both non-classified and secret Internet Protocol networks operated by the Marine Corps.Reliable networks are essential to modern military organizations because they support communications, planning, command activities, and the movement of forces. Strengthening these systems can help ensure that personnel have dependable access to the information required for daily and operational tasks.A second award worth $5.3 million will support Marine Corps Installation West. The organization is responsible for seven Marine bases on the US West Coast.Agile Defense has worked with MCIWEST since 2016. Its technology responsibilities expanded in 2024 to include cloud-based capabilities and specialized AI applications.The latest contract also calls for the company to develop geospatial information systems and introduce Microsoft SharePoint for collaboration. These tools are expected to assist with strategic planning and information management.The work highlights how military modernization increasingly involves digital infrastructure in addition to traditional weapons and equipment. Secure networks, cloud services, AI applications, mapping systems, and collaboration platforms all contribute to how military organizations plan and conduct operations.Through these awards, Agile Defense will continue helping the Marine Corps maintain existing systems while introducing new technologies intended to improve its digital capabilities.
