Ukrainian defense company STG has introduced a thermal camouflage poncho aimed at protecting troops from detection by infrared imaging systems. The development highlights Ukraine’s push to strengthen soldier protection against increasingly sophisticated surveillance technologies used on the battlefield.
The system was presented at the Brave1 Defense Tech Valley 2025 exhibition, where it drew attention for its ability to obscure thermal footprints. By leveraging advanced stealth fabrics, the poncho disrupts heat detection patterns, significantly lowering the chances of a soldier being spotted by drones or thermal cameras.
Field tests indicate that the poncho can mask an individual’s thermal signature within a 100-meter (328-foot) range in forested areas and up to 250 meters (820 feet) in open terrain. This level of concealment provides frontline forces with a critical survivability edge, particularly in environments where adversaries rely heavily on thermal optics for targeting.
