Philippine Air Force Expands Black Hawk Training Capabilities — Lockheed Martin will provide the Philippine Air Force with advanced S-70i Black Hawk training equipment and support services under a Direct Commercial Sale agreement. The contract includes a full flight simulator that recreates the helicopter’s operational environment and a virtual maintenance trainer featuring detailed, interactive three-dimensional models of its airframe systems. Additional provisions cover courseware, sustainment, and spare parts through 2032, supporting the long-term readiness of the Philippine Black Hawk fleet. The deal is the first order for Lockheed Martin’s S-70i Black Hawk training devices, while pilots will continue receiving instruction at the Sikorsky Training Academy in the US until the Philippines’ domestic training capability is ready. The agreement follows the completion of deliveries under a 2022 order for 32 helicopters, with the final batch arriving in August 2026. Combined with the 15 S-70i aircraft already operated by the Philippine Air Force, the additional helicopters bring the reported fleet to 47, making the country the world’s largest operator of this variant. The aircraft support a range of missions, including transporting troops, conducting search-and-rescue operations, and providing humanitarian assistance. By introducing dedicated simulator and maintenance training systems, the Philippine Air Force aims to improve personnel proficiency, build domestic technical expertise, and support the continued availability of its expanding helicopter fleet.
